Kate Cairnie
she/her
Masters of Counselling candidate
Practicum Counsellor
Grounded. Authentic. Flexible.
Kate brings a genuine sense of groundedness and calm to her sessions. She works with you to help you settle in, ensuring you get the most out of each moment. Kate views counselling as an opportunity to explore and process your past and current experiences. She takes a relaxed approach, trusting that what needs to come out will arise naturally each session and can be addressed as it does. Kate applies a strong feminist lens, helping you explore how power and gender might be influencing your current struggles and what can be done about it.
With 6 years of experience in the counselling field, Kate has recently returned to school to pursue her Master's degree in counselling. Currently interning with us, Kate blends her experience with a thirst for more knowledge. She receives direct supervision from Cecile, another of our counsellors, meeting weekly to discuss her cases. If you're open to learning alongside someone as dedicated to the process as you are, Kate is the right counsellor for you.
Kate's practice focuses on supporting a range of concerns, including trauma, depression, eating disorders, grief and anxiety. Kate has extensive experience supporting all forms of intimate partner violence, including sexualized violence. She sees you as the expert in your own life, with her role being a supportive collaborator, helping you find what works best for you based on your lived experiences.
